IPSC Handgun
A Legacy of Speed, Accuracy and Power
IPSC Handgun is the original and most iconic discipline of practical shooting, where the principles of accuracy, power, and speed were first established. As the foundation of IPSC, Handgun combines dynamic courses of fire with precision marksmanship, testing competitors’ skills to the fullest.
In Great Britain, changes to laws and regulations in the 1990s restricted the use of handguns, preventing us from participating in this discipline domestically. However, these limitations have not stopped British shooters from continuing to practice and excel in IPSC Handgun overseas. The UKPSA has remained committed to supporting its members in competing internationally, ensuring that our shooters can still represent Great Britain on the global stage.
IPSC Handgun features a variety of divisions, catering to different firearm types and configurations, from Standard and Open to Production and Classic. Courses of fire are designed to challenge competitors with moving targets, tight shooting windows, and complex stage layouts, all requiring split-second decisions and precise execution.
Despite the restrictions at home, British IPSC Handgun shooters have consistently demonstrated their talent and passion by competing in world and European championships. This discipline continues to inspire practical shooters in Great Britain to strive for excellence and remain connected to the roots of the sport.
IPSC Handgun stands as a testament to the resilience and dedication of the UKPSA and its members, proving that challenges can be overcome, and the spirit of practical shooting lives on. Join the legacy and experience the discipline that started it all—IPSC Handgun.
